New Delhi, Apr 04 All India Unorganised Workers & Employees Congress (KKC) organised a protest against steep rise in prices of petrol, diesel and gas new to Parliament on which was led by its National Chairman - Dr Udit Raj and Subharansh Rai, National Spokesperson.
Hundreds of protesters raised slogans against the central government, holding it responsible for a "sharp" increase in the prices of oil and natural gas. Dr Udit Raj said the BJP government has increased prices of petrol, diesel, CNG, PNG and even the domestic gas cylinder just after the polls in five states were over. Modi Govt has given Return Gift to the voters who got them winner in four states "Spike in fuel prices has also led to inflation among other daily commodities. The government should reduce fuel prices to give a breather to people, he said.
In the protest, agitators mocked the central government by garlanding cylinders and motorcycles. Congress supporters, who participated in the protest, said it was becoming hell for common people to survive amid "such inflation".
Constant increase in fuel and natural gas prices broke the backbone of the public. Rates of petrol and diesel are being raised every day having a cascading effect on other commodities as well, which is making daily consumables costlier, Subharansh Rai, National Spokesperson of KKC said.
The protest was organized as part of the Congress launching its three-phases campaign – "Mehngai-mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" - against the Modi government from March 31, which will continue till April 7.
"We had predicted that as soon as elections in five states will conclude, the fuel prices will be hiked. We demand that fuel prices be rolled back. The government cannot understand the difficulties being faced by the public because of the rise, observed anguished Rai while talking to Bizz Buzz.
He went on to say that loans taken by big corporates go unpunished while common men fend for themselves for succours. He demanded that
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman must provide fuel loans to the middle class to run their vehicles as this is the only alternative left to people.
